I hate weddings. I think they’re a huge waste of money that could be better spent in so many ways…..down payment on a house; a new car; new furniture; a totally kick-ass vacation….

And the shower thing is just stupid. It may have made sense when people got married at 20 or 21, but at 30 or 31, you probably already have a houseful of shit and a drawer full of lingerie.

It’s early. I’m cranky. And people bailing on stuff at the last minute is not cool. Hopefully you’ll at least have their share of booze?

Half of those families are not happy. Honestly, at least half. They’re sick of each other’s BS and selfishness and misunderstandings. Go ahead and be sad, but don’t fret over other people.

It’s true that it takes time. You’re strong and only going to get stronger. At the end of the day you know you’re doing the right thing. I’m really proud of how brave you are.

The universe can be such an evil bitch sometimes. But I agree with you and your friend — what else could you do at that point but laugh?

Hang in there, girl. And seriously, the soon-to-be-ex does need to find somewhere else to stay, immediately. You cannot begin the process of letting go of someone until they actually go away. He is not your responsibility. He is a grown man. What would he do if he was unemployed and your help was not available? Whatever it is, he needs to go do it.

(Note: My thoughts probably stem from the fact that I’ve dealt with too many helpless fucked up mama’s boys who did not seem to understand that sometimes you actually have to do things for yourself.)

I definitely think that a change of scenery might be in order….even if it’s just shit like buying a shower curtain with retro pink flowers and/or anything else that he “hates” so you didn’t decorate like that.

Also, shoes. Chocolate, Nights out with the girls.

I’m sorry it’s been such an awful time for you, but being single has lots of advantages. Your music, your schedule, your bathroom, your freedom to walk around your house wearing plaid flannel pajama pants with a tie-dyed shirt, only stuff YOU like for food and drink…

AND YOU WON’T HAVE TO SHARE A BATHROOM WITH SOMEONE WHO PEES ON THE GODDAMN FLOOR.
